Household Utensils
The oldest pottery industries discovered in Algeria date back to the dawn of history, and household
utensils can be traced back to different civilizations and historical periods, because of the
multiplicity of models, manufacturing techniques, and characteristics of the material used. We often
find local industries and imported industries, either through trade or the movement of people.
As for the shapes of the utensils, we notice that they differ by the morphological aspect – the
apparent shape – or by the use, such as the utensils destined for the preparation of food or the
utensils used for servings food or drinks, like plates, cups, containers, etc.
